We closed on our mortgage this morning.

I cant even explain the weight that has been lifted. For 2 months weve been messing with this thing. Daily phone calls. Paper signing. Handing over every possible financial piece of paper we can find. Todd was wondering when theyd start asking what kind of panties I wear. It was ridiculous to the point of being comical here at the end. If this is how I feel after 1 go round on the mortgage wheel I can only imagine what Todd feels. Hes been dealing with mortgage company after mortgage company since last November.

So, on Wednesday well get a fat wad of cash so we can start remodeling at a normal speed and not this $50 here and $50 there bullshit. The list of items that need some help is really long and we think we can get it done by spring so we dont have to dick with it next summer when well want to go camping.

We can also change the locks now so that my crazy MIL cant come wandering around the house on a whim. Not that it matters much since shes moving to Wichita next weekend. Todd almost gets wood every time he thinks about that fact. To say hes happy to see her go is an understatement. I guess when your mom has done her best to screw you over youre entitled to feel a little joy at her being a great distance away.

As our mortgage situation was getting more hectic so was our ex-wife situation. Every day she gets more and more crazy. She admitted to being a meth user but seems to think theres no way for Todd to ever prove it. Riiiiight. Shes hell bent on staying with the guy she has a restraining order against but tells Todd she still loves him and would come back to him if he asked. She told a very confused little 3 year old that despite the fact that he wants to live with his daddy, he cant because daddy will never let him see his grandparents again. Having planted that little seed she turned around and told Todd that he could come and ask Bubba if he wanted to live with us and if he said yes he was all Todds.

Things are kind of insane outside our relationship right now. Forces that we cant change but that somehow drive us that much closer to each other. We have a game plan though

Were going on a cruise for a week. When we get home all hell will break loose for the ex-wife. Were going to fight for Bubba. Neither one of us can stand it anymore. He deserves so much more than shes willing to give him. We had planned on doing it eventually when we were more settled but we cant wait any more. Were not sure if were ready but when are you ever ready to be a parent? What the ex (really need to pick a name for her) really doesnt understand while shes saying things like, no one is going to tell me what to do with my kid, is that the only reason she has custody in the first place is because Todd happened to be on the road when they divorced. She lives in an alternate reality where the story changes every five minutes and shes the star player.
